What is transformer?

Transformer is electric device with the main function to transfer one value of the rotator input voltage into other (desired) value of the rotator input voltage. < top >

What sort of transformers exists?

Transformers can be classified according to following:
Construction
- classic transformers (core made of EI, UI metal sheets etc.)
- transformers made with C core
- toroidal transformers
- mono-phase transformers
- three-phased transformers
- auto transformers
- regulation transformers
- electrical transformers
Level of input and output voltage
- low-voltage
- high-voltage
Value of working frequency
- low-frequent
- high-frequent
Based on details it is possible to further make a categorization of transformers based on various parameters.

What is the purpose of using torus transformer?
Toroidal transformer generally has all same functions as other kinds of transformers, but his advantages are as follows:
- smaller dimension compared with other transformers of same power
- smaller losses
- lower electro-magnetic radiation
- spoils are located from the outside (easier to cool down)
- easy to fix to surface (with one screw)

Where toroidal transformer is to be (used) built in?

Toroidal transformer has a wide spectrum of use in various devices: power supply units, corrector, power correctors, power invertors, or more concretely in distribution box for lift power supply, for manoeuvring electric locks, in alarms, centrals, at the surveillance camera’s supply, audio devices, battery chargers, relays charging, connector charging for different managing units, medical appliances, for the halogen lights, swimming pool lights, car-mechanic’s workshop channel lights, and for connecting devices from networks different from the voltage 230V (devices from America, Canada... where voltage is 110V) etc. < top >

What is the role of folio on the outside of the transformer?
Folio that is rolled from the outer side of the transformer has a role of isolation. That is so called isolation folio (protruding voltage is around 3500V) which isolates the transformer from the surface, protects the users from the power struck if touching, and it cannot be removed or damaged. < top >

What is the working temperature of transformer?
Working temperature of transformer (product of Trafco firm) depends of transformer power when fully loaded, but at regular room temperature (20 Celsius degrees) is from 65-75 Celsius degrees. < top >

What means "Thermo-secured transformer"?
This means the transformer has built in thermo fuse which switches off the transformer when its temperature reaches certain value stated at the thermo-fuse. This is a method to protect the transformer and device. < top >

Can thermo fuse switch on by itself when transformer is not overheated?
There are thermo-fuses that turn themselves after transformer cools down when overloaded, but Trafco firm builds in melting fuses that can be changed at the workshop in order to see the cause of burring down the fuse. < top >

At what should we pay attention when choosing the transformer?
1. Define correctly electric parameters of the transformer (input and output voltage and appropriate currency power...)
2. Pay attention at the environment where the transformer is installed (increased humidity, temperature, different vapours...)
3. Pay attention to particular condition of device, that is stipulated by the legislator that are part of the standards such as medical appliances etc.

What is dividable transformer?
Dividable transformer is a transformer that has separately rolled primary voltage and separately rolled secondary spoil, and they stay isolated among each other. It is also called a protective transformer because there is no phase at its output and this protects humans from the power truck that can have catastrophic consequences. They are used by all means with medical devices, lights at car-mechanic workshops etc. < top >

What is auto-transformer?
Auto-transformer (known also as step up, step down, transformer, špar transformer) is a transformer which has only one spoil onto with extraction at certain points. At those extractions a phase is detected, also it does not have protective role. It is frequently used to supply devices that work on 110-120V and which are foreseen by its construction to be directly attached onto phase with no risk for the user. < top >

Can we make a three-phased transformer out of toroidal?

Three-phased transformer can be made of three mono-phased transformers which are linked in a star or a triangle. < top >

When turning on the transformer, the fuse is burned. Why?
Toroidal transformer are characteristic by retracting high power due to magnetising the core when switched on, which can result in high-power transformers burning down the fuse even if the transformer is fully functional. For that reason, exclusively slow resisters are to be used, as they will not react immediately, or a switch-on circuit is to be used. (soft start). < top >

Can torus transformer be fixed by wires?
NO. NEVER. If done, a swirl is made which burns down during the power struck after warming up the transformer. Instead of wires plastic girth parts can be used. We suggest the use of original tools used for montage. < top >

What is the purpose of the blind swirl?
Blind swirl is a spoil that is located among the primary and secondary part, and of which one part is connected onto the mass. Its role is to decrease radiation and provide increased protection from the power struck in case of breaking through from primary to secondary part. < top >

Can torus transformer work for 24 hours?

Answer is YES. Property dimensioned transformer is capable of working full 24 hours when fully loaded, practically the work is unlimited.< top >

What is the difference between output voltage under pressure and no-load running?
Voltage when loaded is an output voltage at the transformer when a customer in connected to transformer. Voltage at no-load running is the voltage at the output of transformer measured when there is not load attached onto transformer. The difference between there two values is appearing due to loss in transformer and the voltage when loaded can be lesser for few % from no-load voltage (you can see the value of % for all power-ranged transformers produced by Trafco firm). < top >
